James Murphy has been doing radio since 2009 and has been heard in over 95 countries of the world. In fact, he could be one of the world's best known secrets!
Developing his career from being a DJ, radio really wasn't his aim, but after some encouragement from friends he decided to give it a go.
From a humble beginning with only 4 online listeners at a small web station at the start, it's steadily grew to the stage where James' shows were listened to by in excess of 800,000 on a regularly basis in China.
He's had a few ups and downs over the years, none more so that finding out he had cancer at the end of 2016. After having an operation to remove the little blighter and after three months recuperating and now having had the all clear, he's back!
James has had a change round in his programming and now does two shows, both of which are on Love Music Radio.
The first is an old favourite. 'Proper Oldies' is a 2 hour trip back in time, featuring music from what are considered to be the best decades of Pop, the 1950s - the 1980s. Jam-packed full of great songs, it has you singing away in no time.
The second show is a brand new show that has only arrived since he's started doing his shows again. Called 'Lost In Music' It's based on the following premise.
People of a certain age will probably remember a time when friends came around and you went through your records playing whatever you fancied at the time, going from genre to genre, back and forth through the years, just having a great time playing a proper mix of music.
Well, I've brought that to radio, but right up to date, using music gleaned from vinyl, CDs, downloads, minidiscs and even cassette if that's that only format I've got what I want to play on. Features include a revamped Pot Luck Jukebox, and Cratedigging' where I'll play something I've bought recently whether it be from Charity Shop, Record shop or online.
These days, the equivalent would be an mp3 player on shuffle. But instead of it being a solitary thing, you'll be more than welcome to join me and be part of it by making requests.
You'll hear an eclectic mix of music across many genres and you'll hear old and brand new music. One thing you can be sure of is that James only plays music that he feels his audience will enjoy.
So that's it. 2 shows, lots of music, a little chat and a lot of fun!
So I hope you will join me every weekend as I present my two shows.....
Saturday's 3-5pm UK time with my show "Lost in Music"
Sunday's 5-7pm UK time with my show "Proper Oldies"
We are delighted James has now joined the Love Music Radio team of presenters.
